Futures for Young Adults Program

Service Description

Futures for Young Adults is a joint initiative of the DHS and the Department of Education for students with disabilities aged 18 and over who currently attend government special schools, and special development schools or are integrated into government secondary schools and Independent and Catholic schools. The program provides resources to assist these students to move from school to more appropriate adult options such as adult education, training and supported vocational settings from the end of the end of the current school year.


Eligibility

The DHS will attend an assessment of the disabled students support needs. Based on the level of support needs indicated by this assessment, a level of funds will be identified within which services can be provided.


Waiting List

Referrals to agencies are from the Department of Human Services.
