Ron Brewster’s story is one of resilience, creativity, and the power of support. And humour. Whatever life has thrown at him, he’s been able to see the funny side of even some darker moments. A self-described “Peter Pan,” Ron has lived a dynamic life, taking on various roles—from middle management to outback worker, factory owner, playwright and actor. His journey has been marked by adventure, reinvention, and an unwavering focus on what truly matters to him.
However, life also threw unexpected challenges his way. Ron faced a series of health setbacks. A car accident led to the discovery of a brain mass that required urgent surgery. Though the procedure was successful, he later suffered seizures and what he described as ‘a slow-motion’ stroke, leaving him in constant pain and struggling with daily activities.

During his hospital stay, Ron found himself overwhelmed by the uncertainty of what lay ahead. “I didn’t know what was what,” he recalls. When his daughter expressed sadness that he might not be able to paint again, Ron was determined to prove her wrong. Now, he creates artwork with a unique style—the results of his tremors are often mistaken for intricate details!
He recently exhibited, sharing both his beautiful work and the story behind its creation with his community.
He continues to explore new creative outlets, finding joy and connection in the midst of adversity.
