At Care Connect, we are committed to making access to care as easy as possible, and part of that is providing access to information. We know that websites don’t always work well for everyone. That’s why we’ve made some big improvements to our website, so it’s easier for more people to use — including those who are neurodiverse, visually impaired, are older or who speak a language other than English.
Now, when you visit our website, you’ll find a button on the top right of the page that says ‘accessibility’. When you click on this a toolbar will pop up along the top of the page. It lets you read or listen to information in the way that works best for you.
Some of the things you can do with the toolbar include:
- Have the text on the website read aloud to you
- Change the font, colours or spacing to suit your needs that best work for you
- Use reading aids like a screen mask or ruler
- Translate the content into more than 100 languages — including over 65 with text-to-speech (so you can listen as it’s read out loud)
Lynda Chalmers, CEO, says, “Equity and Accessibility to care is extremely important to us. We know that more than one in four Australians have some kind of access barrier when using the internet. We’re committed to making sure all our clients can get the information and support they need in a way that suits them.”
Ross Linnett, Founder of Recite Me, created the software Care Connect is using and agrees that “the digital world must be accessible to all.”
We invite you to try it for yourself. Find the User Guide here and click the Accessibility button in the top right of the screen to launch the toolbar.
It’s all part of our ongoing commitment to supporting older Australians to live independently — and stay informed — at home.
