Making the most of your available funding

Many older Australians currently have unspent home care funds available within their package budgets. Across our organisation alone, clients currently hold more than $24 million in unspent funds.

As part of Support at Home funding arrangements introduced on 1 November 2025, funding has moved to a quarterly budget model. Under these new arrangements, only up to 10% of unused quarterly funding , or a maximum of $1,000, can be rolled over into the next quarter, and these amounts do not continue to accumulate over time. Any remaining unused funds above these limits are returned to the Government.

This means it is increasingly important for clients to actively use their available funding in ways that support their individual goals, independence and wellbeing at home.

Importantly, there are currently no client contributions applied to services accessed through existing unspent funds.

Over the coming months, our teams will be working closely with clients and families to better understand their goals and discuss opportunities to make the most of available funding.

This may include accessing additional supports, wellbeing initiatives, or other services that may enhance independence, confidence and quality of life at home.
