Regional Victoria to ease Coronavirus restrictions again and move to third step in roadmap to reopening

Regional Victoria will move to step three of its Coronavirus reopening plan from 11:59pm tomorrow night (Wednesday 16 September 2020), meaning: up to 10 people will be allowed to dine inside cafes and restaurants (up to 50 people in outdoor areas), up to 10 people can meet outdoors, kids’ sport, and travelling for a holiday will all be allowed.

Accommodation will reopen in time for the school holidays, and students in regional Victoria will return to the classroom in term four. Retail has remained open, but will be expanded to include personal services such as beauty and tattooing, where a mask can be worn. For real estate services, outdoor auctions will be permitted with a limit of 10 people.

Masks will remain mandatory and there will still be tight restrictions on the number of people who can visit you at home.

The loosening of restrictions in regional Victoria will coincide with more police checkpoints and tougher questioning of those trying to enter from Melbourne.

Premier Daniel Andrews said the changes were possible because the daily average for new cases in regional Victoria was down to 3.6 and there had been no mystery cases for two weeks.
